Reflection Essay Set “Crossroads” Part 2

To be honest, I’ve never given much thought to what drives me or what I’m truly passionate about. For most of my life, I’ve tended to go with the flow, doing what was expected of me without questioning it too deeply. But if I take a step back and reflect, I think my “tennis ball”—the thing I’m always chasing—is helping others. I’ve always been drawn to careers in fields like education, counseling, or social work, where I can make a tangible, positive impact on people’s lives. Whether I’m tutoring, volunteering, or simply being a supportive friend, I feel the most engaged and fulfilled when I’m working to uplift others.

I think this stems from my deep value for relationships and community. I believe that we’re all interconnected and that by helping others, we’re also bettering ourselves. There’s something profoundly rewarding about knowing that I’ve made a difference in someone’s life, no matter how small. It gives me a sense of purpose and direction, as if I’m chasing my tennis ball and it’s pulling me toward a life filled with meaning and significance. It’s these moments—when I feel I’ve contributed to someone else’s well-being—that affirm who I am and what I want to continue doing.

By focusing on this passion, I hope to find a career that aligns with my values and allows me to make a lasting positive impact on the world. While I’m not entirely sure what that will look like yet, I’m excited about the journey ahead. Exploring my options and finding ways to integrate my love for helping others into my work feels like an adventure worth pursuing, and I’m eager to see where it leads.
